MyRun App Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026 · Applies to the MyRun iOS app

The short version

MyRun records your runs, which means it collects precise location. If you choose to share a run live, the people you invite can see where you are while you are running. We do not sell your data, we do not use your health data for advertising, and you can turn every sharing feature off.

Location

When you start a run, MyRun records your GPS position continuously — including while the app is in the background or your screen is locked, so that a run does not stop recording in your pocket. Location is used to draw your route, calculate distance and pace, show events near you, and — only when you choose it — share your position during a live or group run.

Ending a run stops location sharing immediately. Once you end a session, your position and route are no longer served to anyone else, even while the group is still running.

Health and fitness data

With your permission, MyRun reads workout data from Apple Health (distance, duration, heart rate, route) and, if you connect a Garmin account, workouts plus daily wellness, sleep, HRV and stress summaries. The app also reads motion data from your phone — steps, cadence and stride length — and can connect to a Bluetooth heart-rate strap.

Health data is used to show your training, calculate your statistics and generate coaching insights for you. It is never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold or shared with data brokers.

What other people can see

Nothing about a run is shared until you share it. Live sharing, group runs and community posts are all opt-in, and automatic posting is off by default.

When you do share a live run, you control it in three separate switches — location, pace and heart rate — and each is enforced on our servers, not just hidden in the app. Turning heart rate off means it is not sent to anyone, rather than sent and not displayed.

AI features

Premium AI features — training plans, post-workout analysis, the coach briefing and race-route import — send the relevant workout details to an AI provider to generate a response. Dictation audio is transcribed by a speech service so the app can understand any language you speak.

These requests carry your workout data, not your name, email or account identifiers, and providers are not permitted to use them to train their models.

Photos, microphone and calendar

Photo access is used to add a photo to a share card and to upload race photos and racekit images that you choose. Saving a share card or video writes to your photo library. The microphone is used only while you are dictating a training-plan request. Calendar access, if granted, adds running events you save to your calendar. Each is requested at the moment you first use the feature, and declining any of them leaves the rest of the app working.

Where your data is stored

Your account and workout data are stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with row-level security, so a signed-in account can only read its own data and whatever has been explicitly shared with it. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication. Purchases are processed by Apple; we never see your card details.

Your choices and deleting your data

You can disconnect Garmin or revoke Health access at any time, turn off any sharing switch, delete individual workouts, or delete your account from within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, workouts, routes, live-run history and social posts. Revoking MyRun in Garmin Connect also tells us to stop receiving your data.

Children's privacy

MyRun is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Some events listed on our platform have kids' categories registered by a parent or guardian; those registrations are made through the adult's account.
